Beautiful campground! Not many sites, but well worth it if you can get reservations.
OMG, we loved our waterfront site #1 out on a weee peninsula of its own. So picturesque. Others said great fishing, too, but we only kayaked. Lots of water to explore. Greatest restrooms ever, with private toilet and shower in same room.
Its a state park and a national forest. Kinda cool. Not sure if this is the case, but the state park seems to be divided into 2 parks. Both of which are on different small lakes. Seems like a lot to do here for just about every outdoor type. The Crowley's Ridge Parkway is an absolutely gorgeous drive from what little bit we drove. Lots of wildlife. Stopped at Crowley's Ridge Overlook and the Horn Fire Tower. Cant go up the tower, but still a neat stop for a quick picture. Will be back to drive the Parkway if nothing else.
Huge insects 🕷️
Nice quiet place.
We rented a cabin, perfect place to come & do absolutely nothing. Hiking trails, fishing was a little out of my comfort zone. It’s in the country, in the woods with murky water.
But scenery is beautiful 🤩 we chilled in the cabin, took our hammock & played board games. If you’re looking for activities for young ones during your camping trip, probably not the place. But if you want to get away, relax, enjoy nature & do nothing, this is the place!
It's very nice and clean. The staff are really friendly. Good for kids, and has a hiking trail around the lake.
Absolutely loved this park. The visitors center had a lovely garden full of hummingbirds and butterflies. The interior had a wonderful hands on exhibit about the local area. They had cool little themed backpacks for kids you can borrow for FREE!!! There was one for general forest stuff, astronomy, birding, and plants. They had little games and a sketchbook and story book and tracking book and magnifying glass and other cool kid adventure stuff. Aaaaand they let you borrow fishing poles and bikes. Arkansas State Parks are better than all the other ones we’ve been too and the campsite was super clean and the bathrooms were clean and had running water and a hot and cold shower which was super refreshing and needed. Many resources available, very nice shop with souvenirs, fishing supplies, and camping necessities if you forgot something. The staff were all incredibly helpful and friendly as well. Out of the 8 parks I’ve used during this specific road trip, no others come close to being as nice as Arkansas State Parks and definitely the Mississippi River State Park is ranked No. 1 thus far.
Stopped here to stretch my legs and loved it. The center was closed because it was a holiday but their walking path was beautiful. Everything was very clean, lots of trash cans, dog bags if you needed them and even some wagons were available if you wanted to pull your smaller children around. There were also plenty of benches. It is a very well maintained park with placards along the way with information about local wildlife.
This place is beautiful! It totally caught me off guard and wasn't expecting such a beautiful park! This park is located on the Crowley's ridge and butts up to the national Forest. This is one of the most beautiful national Forest I have been to. The park itself offers several campsites near two pretty lakes. There is swimming, biking, fishing, kayaking, etc. This park is great for biking. If you like to "Jeep" and explore the national Forest offers some great trails where you can see the Mississippi and St. Francis rivers. All in all this place is a great place to visit for all kinds of outdoor activities!
